The reported fishing sequence

The October 1 discussion begins with a player who skipped the rod tutorial. Another player explains the mouse-and-keyboard process, and a second describes the timing activity that follows:

  1. Equip your fishing rod.
  2. Left-click the ocean or pond near a visible fish or bubbles.
  3. Watch for the exclamation mark and click again when it appears.
  4. Complete the timing minigame that starts after the hook interaction.

These are attributed launch-player instructions. The source does not establish a fishing shop location, rod price, bait requirement or a complete fish-location table.

Casting and hooking are separate

Placing the line in the water is the start of the attempt. The exclamation-mark interaction is the next step, followed by the timing activity. If you cast successfully but never reach the minigame, focus on that middle step rather than repeatedly changing where you cast.

For practice, choose a visible target in a place you can approach clearly. Watch one attempt from beginning to end so you can identify the stage at which it stops working. This is our suggested diagnostic approach, not a guaranteed catch method.

How the timing activity differs from spells

A player describes fishing as rhythm timing with a single interaction rather than selecting different note keys. Follow the prompts shown by your build. We have not checked all fish difficulties or the amount of timing error each allows.

Controller target-circle reports

The thread contains a report that the fishing target circle fails to appear with a controller. It is useful evidence of a reported symptom, but it does not prove all controllers are affected or establish a fix.

If that matches your experience, record your controller, game version and whether mouse input behaves differently, if available. Avoid treating an unverified workaround as a required setting change. The controls guide helps distinguish an input mismatch from the fishing sequence itself.
