That gives a better first destination than trying every outdoor fire. Go to the common room, locate the fireplace, and read the interaction the game offers for the prepared baking item.
Before trying the fireplace

- Confirm the prepared item is in your inventory.
- Use the fireplace interaction and follow its current prompt.
- Check the resulting item and your journal before returning to the quest giver.

Is the library another option?

If you are already near the library, inspect its available baking interaction. If nothing suitable appears, return to the common room instead of assuming all fires have identical functionality.

Keep the prepared item and compare the journal wording with the item that came out of the interaction. Capture both names if you need to ask for help. This separates a location problem from an item or quest-state problem.
