The early chest route
The October 1 original Steam discussion recommends buying a chest recipe and reaching Carpenter level 2. Its asker confirms building the chest and placing it outside in the garden. That makes a garden chest the best-documented immediate storage route in these sources.
For the recipe shop, a Japanese player's launch Wisk table lists the chest under Practical Practice. This seller identification is a single-player report, so check the shop's current recipe stock. The independent Steam thread confirms the recipe and skill requirement, but does not name its seller.
Before you buy or craft
| Check | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|
| Recipe shop | Practical Practice in Wisk, reported by one launch player |
| Skill | Carpenter level 2, corroborated by the original storage discussion |
| Materials and price | Read the current recipe panel; exact amounts have not been independently corroborated |
| Placement | The original asker successfully placed a chest in the garden |
| Capacity | No verified slot count in the sources used here |
Do not buy extra materials from an assumed recipe amount. The live panel resolves whether your current shortage is gold, a missing recipe, a skill prerequisite or crafting supplies.
Craft and place a useful first chest
- At the reported recipe shop, inspect the chest entry and acquire the recipe if it is available.
- Compare its Carpenter requirement with your ability screen.
- Gather the material types and quantities displayed by that recipe, then craft it.
- Take the finished chest to the garden and use its current placement interaction.
- Transfer a small group of ordinary crafting supplies first. Confirm that you can open the chest and retrieve them before moving your entire quest stock.
If the object cannot be placed in the dorm, try the garden, where placement was confirmed. That does not establish that every piece of furniture can only go outdoors, or that an indoor placement workaround exists.
Can crafting see stored items?
A different participant in the Steam discussion reports access to stored supplies when crafting. Treat this as an observation to check on your own recipe screen:
- Note the available quantity for one ordinary material.
- Store part of that material in the chest.
- Reopen the recipe and compare the displayed available quantity.
This small check lets you decide how to organize supplies without assuming every recipe or storage location shares the same behavior. It does not consume a rare ingredient simply to test storage access.
What to put inside
Keep items for the objective you are actively delivering easy to find. Move bulky crafting stock and spare materials into the chest, leaving backpack room for the next trip. If you intend to sell only part of a stack, consult stack splitting before moving the excess to the well.
Is backpack expansion possible later?
On rechecking the original thread, its fourth reply now says the player found a later backpack expansion. A September 30 prelaunch PC reviewer independently describes gaining more inventory space later in the game.
That is useful evidence that additional space may exist beyond the early garden chest. Neither source establishes the unlock location, required quest, cost or final capacity. Use the confirmed chest route for the present space problem rather than waiting for a guessed backpack vendor.
