Follow the mill's objective chain

The version 1.06 quest log describes five stages, from hearing about trouble at the mill to playing Song of Silence and lifting the curse. If you are stuck, compare the current journal sentence with the stages below before traveling to the next place.

  1. Investigate the mill in Rosewheat Fields. Talk with the miller about the curse. This establishes the mill's problem; collecting flour or trying other cooking equipment does not replace this conversation.
  2. Speak with the mill goblin. The goblin's clue directs you to quiet witches at the Temple of Silence in the mountains. Look for that objective before assuming the song can be bought or learned at a normal class.
  3. Reach the temple and obtain Song of Silence. The songs walkthrough says the temple encounter gives the song. Temple access is a separate obstacle; the walkthrough mentions a chalice and an owl, but this page does not claim a complete temple puzzle route.
  4. Return to the cursed mill. Play Song of Silence at the target named by your objective. The quest log then records the mill returning to normal. Follow the journal to close out the conversation at the mill.

If you have the song but see no Practice option, that alone is not a broken unlock. The songs walkthrough classifies Song of Silence among short songs used manually. Pin the song, enter instrument mode and play the notes shown by your own game; remapped controls may differ.

What if you cannot reach the mountain stage?

An original player discussion begins with someone unable to find the quiet witches. Replies and a later player report point toward freeing Codrin from the fairy ring, then continuing through Ochre Woods and the route beyond. Treat this as a progression lead for that blocked state, not a guaranteed prerequisite for every save. Our Fairy Ring guide covers Codrin's rescue and the earth song.

If the temple is still inaccessible, note whether your journal currently asks for the goblin, the temple, or a different story objective. The sources above do not justify a universal shortcut that skips intervening quests or terrain access.

Keep these two tasks separate

Cursed Mill asks you to remove the curse with Song of Silence. Fairy Ring asks you to rescue Codrin and seal rings with Song of Earth. One may help your wider story advance, but the songs and objectives are different. The blueberry baking guide addresses a cooking task and its fireplace, not the mill's curse.

Sources and limits

The mill route comes from the data-mined version 1.06 quest log and a separate songs walkthrough, checked 18 October 2026. The Fairy Ring link is an attributed player report. We have not replayed this quest or verified every route through the Temple of Silence.
